Sessions before it was Sessions

The first idea I had.

The Sessions that MyFitnessPal acquired was actually the third iteration of the original idea.

The first idea came from reading a blog post by Jay Parkinson.

Inspiration changes behavior. The brands and concepts that inspire us to pursue health and “the good life” give us a vision of what we should be doing and what we want to be. Think Jamie Oliver, Rapha, The Brooklyn Kitchen, Jack Lalanne, etc.

They don’t use numbers. They use inspiration.

For a couple of months in early 2011, I was deadset on founding Te Kiri — the next iconic running brand, and a vehicle to inspire people to pursue health and “the good life”.

I wrote about how to really run, printed prototype hoodies and travelled to running’s spiritual homes of New Zealand and Japan to run parks and see how people lived with running.

In the end, I didn’t think I had what it took to make and sell lots of clothing.

But I’ve never stopped wishing for Te Kiri to come into existence.
