Pay attention to what happens to your energy when you spend time with someone.

Does your energy spike in anticipation of seeing them? Is it higher or lower after spending the time? Does that energy stick with you and make you want to want to follow-up and keep devoting time?

At first, this feels like an superficial measure.

But as an investor, you’re signing up for potentially, hopefully, decade-long relationships with founders.

If the early signs point to net-negative energy drain, you’re doing yourself and the founder a disservice by ignoring it.

Once you start paying attention to that energy, you’ll see it with all the people you spend time with.

And you’ll realise that professional or personal, relationships that drain your energy won’t end up well, for anybody.
