Battery is one of the biggest cash guzzlers in the CleanTech Industry, may in Rooftop Solar, Electric Cars, Trucks or Home UPS systems. I’m not counting batteries in laptops and computers, that’s for another day.

Many of us think battery life is counted as number of years of warranty, but is it true ? partially because battery life depends on the number of charge discharge cycles and Depth of these cycles.

So optimizing the charge discharge cycles is the single most way of increasing battery life-time. We have found that as much as 25% of the life can be increasing by building algorithms based on usage patterns.

Machine Learning and Cloud will play a significant role in improving the battery characteristics. How you might ask ? because each customer uses his/her system in a different way , building a standard algorithm does not work, that is when constant learning algorithms from the usage data of the system matters.
