Here are the value-packed pieces of content for you, this month!

👋 WARNING before Internships | For Students 🎓

👋 Honeymoon Period is Fudged | For Freshers after College 👔

👋 Inspiration of an emerging CEO | For budding Entrepreneurs 💼

👋 Adapting to Consistency | For Everyone 🙌🏻

👋 Developers’ Partner in Crime | Quick Hacks For Aspiring Automators ⚙️

Most of the current students are blindly looking for internships. While there are very few internships that are worth your time, there are always some good ones to choose from. However, there are also some internships from which you need to stay away.

Though there are various misc reasons to accept or reject an offer, here’s what you can look up front before you accept an internship offer.

  1. Ask if they had any interns who are now full-time employees
  2. Ask the processes you may have to undergo every day as an intern
  3. Get to know their expectations from you, before you assume
  4. Find out someone who’s already an intern there, or has interned there before and seek more knowledge
  5. Check if you are one of the early interns in their company

😬 Chill chill, I can hear your mind voice, “it’s hard to even get an internship, in that if you want me to check all these, where would I go“. I got you. If you feel that way, then here is a simple, yet another powerful check to do. You can check if the internship is a paid one or not.

👉 3 types of internships on the basis of Pay

  • Paid Internship — that pays money to you for your contribution to their product. These are the best kind of internships.
  • Unpaid Internship — that does not pay money for your contribution, but there’ll be at least an internship certificate for this with added benefits for you. They are pretty decent ones, and sometimes good based on the added benefits.
  • Pay for Internship — that asks for money to send you an internship certificate is something you need to be careful about. You’d not learn anything. In fact, their idea is to earn money for printing certificates, and it is never to make you learn. These are mostly scams and are not accepted by most colleges!

✋ Beware, fellas!

👊 After college, most of you prefer to work for a company. Some of you have got that opportunity and most of you are yet to get it. All of you people definitely understand the value of getting a job more than anyone!

👊 On the other hand, some people have no idea how they have landed a job in some great companies. Most of them do not understand the efforts put up by a person throughout college life to get that great company. They do not understand the value of a job. Sometimes they tend to take it for granted. But, one day they will realize the value and try to fit in there when it’s already late.

Regardless, of what category you belong to from the above, did you know that your probation period is when you are actually shaping yourselves for your career?

🙌 If you already know this, well and good. Yet, most of you consider this period to be a transition from college to the corporate phase. Though it sounds valid enough theoretically, it is not adequate practically. Why?

Because what you study as part of academics in college is not a match to what you’ll be expected to do in your company. This is the time you need to utilise to tune up your skills to match the industry standards, not just in terms of your tech skills, but also your soft skills. 6 solid months is no fun.

🖖 6 x 22 working days per month — 1 leave per month = 126 working days. You are being paid for all these days, given a place to work and even treated with meals and snacks for free all day in some companies. With these add-on benefits, all you are expected to do is to undergo the pieces of training with care and understand the company’s products/services better. Interact with employees and build your connections and get exposed to the environment soon.

In fact, exposure to these industry standards in all the terms should be obtained during your college days, or at least during your final year with the help of your senior or an industry expert. If you have missed such opportunities during your college, the probation period is your grace period.

👉 That’s why the company gives you this grace period of 6 months (1/8 of your college) to hone your skills in the relevant stacks and tech needs. Only the ones who perform well after this half-year will be given a chance to work with their products/services. This is usually considered an achievement, and you get a letter of appreciation or a certificate of recognition. Yes, indeed it is.

😵 The people inside the company might call this a honeymoon period where people can work leisurely and take time to learn things without major commitments to the product or customers. Usually, this honeymoon period is at least when you get attached and bonded with the company. It builds up a good relationship between you and your peers, which would enable you to work efficiently as a team.

But, mostly this tempting term is misunderstood. Most newly joined employees are considering this to be a period they can enjoy the most. Of course, you are done with your college and you are living on your own money. It may be tempting to have the best fun which you have not enjoyed in your college. But, the enjoyment should be measured before you utilize them all.

🤧 And, my dear guys who are into R&D as freshers, please understand that R&D is the fancy corporate term used in most product companies to not offend you or embarrass you for being taken into the company! R&D for freshers is nothing but you are not considered eligible to work for a company’s product. I agree, that some of you are lucky to get the best mentors during your R&D. You guys are safe and you have another chance to have a bright future. But, if you feel that you are the master in the R&D team, I bet you are losing it. Better work on a company switch. You deserve better!

💪 There is a very interesting story about the start of this company. Vinoth Kumar Babu ↗️, who is the founder of this company is known to me since 2020. The change he has created in his career is huge in these two years, in spite of the lockdown.

I’m glad to have met him during his second year. He was almost on the verge of dropping out. But, he never had clarity of what was next! I had the chance to stay in touch with him and lead him to clarity in his career towards his one single goal — to start and run a company of his own.

He was very well self-paced and aggressive about grabbing opportunities. Initially, he was a bit usual like any student of his age — blaming the circumstances, focusing on the distractions, etc. However, later he built himself up and transformed into a whole new mindset. Since then, he always brought up a possibility and potential solutions for what we are stuck at.

The journey with Vinoth was insightful and thoughtful for me. In most of his moves, I could relate them very well to my scenarios during my college days. Here’s a post from LinkedIn, I posted 7 months back — A true story of a budding entrepreneur — Part 1

🤩 Indeed, I can proudly add this to my success stories. Of course, there is a second part to it, that is written by Vinoth himself. Please read both of these. He’s a great inspiration for me and definitely for many of you! Read part 2 here:

In both parts, what you will see there is determination. A determination to achieve a position where his family is relaxed and happy. One more value that comes to my mind, when thinking about his journey is consistency.

🤔 Thinking about consistency, everyone wants to be consistent, but not everyone knows how to practice it. If you consider the concept of learning, we learn every day and yet find it hard to learn something huge in a long term. We discussed how to be consistent in learning in our previous releases. However, here is a very satisfying and generic tip for you to become consistent in anything that you want.

🧠 Our brains are used to exploring new things and are quite curious about what’s next. But, what needs to understand is that certain things need you to be regular, even though it does not make sense to you in a short term.

Are you struggling to practice consistency on anything and none of the tips work for you? Then, let’s take up this long and very simple process.

👐 Have you wondered, it’s the harder things that are challenging to be consistent, and (un)fortunately those are the ones that become essential in our life. But, how can you build up (self-train) your mind to become consistent about the harder things?

Just start small! Philosophically, it may sound simple. I can understand, that the process is hard. But, you can still crack it by first tricking your brain. Here’s how you can ace it.

🔭 Identify what you love the most, that fascinates you the most even when you are asked to do it in the middle of a tiring night. Once you identify this, build a reason for you to do it regularly. For example, you can consider checking if all the taps in your house are closed before you go to bed. Make this your habit, by following this process daily for a month or so. Now, your brain has started to adapt to the fact that you are being consistent.

Being consistent is easy, but adapting the quality of consistency is difficulty!

🧠 Our brains are so dumb, that it does not oversee what you are doing exactly. All it understands is that you are being consistent about doing something daily. By this, your brain starts to believe (assumes) that you are consistent.

Next, have a similar routine for your morning! For example, opening your balcony every morning to see the open world and say/think something positive about the day!

Gradually, you’ll start feeling a sense of discipline in a couple of months. That’s it.

😎 You’ve mastered your own limiting self-belief that you are not able to be consistent. Now take up new challenges for a number of days and start living a consistent life!

Saying that, one such practice that I did the last month was to wake up early in the morning before the sun and open the balcony to feed and feel positive, and also walk up to the tea shop to have tea. This helped me tune my brain for 2 weeks which makes me consistent about waking up every day morning and walking to the gym everyday morning.

🥴 For years, I have been scrolling a lot on LinkedIn, to find some good content of mine to either reuse or rephrase for something better. This has been a real pain, especially when you happen to refresh the page or click a link that leads to another refresh. Most of the time, it frustrates me.

While doing this, I used to feel the need for a way to download all my posts in a single click. I tried to find such an option on LinkedIn, but couldn’t. Even if that feature exists now, I’d prefer to use it my own way from now!

It’s the way for any Developer, to use their partner in crime! Yes, using the browser console!

The browser console is the partner in crime for many developers on internet

👻 Here’s how I fetched my hundreds of posts from LinkedIn in just a few seconds.

Though it needed some manual intervention, it was so cool to have almost all my posts in text format ready to rephrase.

It’s an absolute pleasure to watch the posts scrolling automatically to load all the paginated contents. I’ll definitely improve this code further to reduce the manual work. I’ll update you for sure. Stay tuned👂
