How To: Use The Expiry Dates Feature (Premium)

TL;DR: By becoming a premium user (which costs less than a cup of coffee ^_^) you can provide the shelf life and expiration date for any product you use in your Lists. We will then do the tracking for you and notify you when the product has reached or is reaching its expiration date. We also calculate when it’s best to finish using the product!

Remember, the key to Thinking Dirty is not just knowing what is inside of the product but knowing when the product has reached its expiration date…

As you keep tracking the products you have on the app using our Lists feature, we want to make sure you are also keeping track of these products’ expiration dates.

With our Expiry Dates feature, you will be able to add and track the expiration date for any product in your Lists. Instead of keeping track of every product, let us do it for you. We will notify you before the expiration date and when it’s time to throw that old thing away!

How It Works

To track the expiration date of any product, you will need to do this first: Add products to the Lists that Think Dirty provides or with the ones you have created.

Once you have done this, you can select any product in any list and Add an Expiration Date. After you have filled in the required information, we can track and notify you before or on the day of the expiration. Once your product expires, it is time to say goodbye! We also provide a calculation of when it’s best to finish using the product! You can also easily edit or remove the expiration date of any product in your lists.

If you ever forget to throw out certain products or which products are reaching expiration or have reached, you can go to Profile and view a list of all products that will or have expired!

Step-by-Step Process

Let’s say you have added products to the Lists provided or created. Now, we can access the Expiry Dates feature.

Adding an Expiry Date:

1. Press on the Lists icon at the bottom tab of your screen
2. Once you have pressed the Lists icon, you will be shown your Lists and the products included in each List. Choose any list you want.
3. Once you have chosen your list, choose any product to which you want to add an expiration date.
4. After you have selected your product, you will have the opportunity to add the expiration date by selecting a button titled “Add Expiry Date”.
5. After you have selected the Add Expiry Date button you are taken to a form that asks you to fill out the necessary information for us to begin tracking.

6. You will fill out the Open Date, Shelf life, Expiry date, add notes, and when you would like to be notified of the upcoming expiration.

7. After you have filled in the form, you will press the Save button.

Editing or Removing an Expiry Date:

1. Go to Lists and select any list you want. Once you have done that, choose the product you wish to edit.
2. After you have selected your product, press on the ‘Edit Expiry Date’ button. You will be taken to the expiry form where you can edit any of the fields to your liking and press Save. If you wish to remove the expiration date altogether, you can press the bright red button titled ‘Remove expiry date.’

Tracking All Expiring Products:

1. Press on the Profile icon on the lower tab of your screen
2. Press on the Expiring Products tab
3. After you have pressed this tab, you will view a list of all products that are about to expire or have expired.
