Create A Strategy For Your Main Projects

#347 Create a strategy for my blog & career

What if you could become one of the big writers? One of the big influencers? How much would you be willing to sacrifice?

“I like to follow one rule. I never start anything that I’m not prepared to commit 5 years of my life to. That’s a long time frame, I know. But it gives me room to plan, to try and to measure what I’ve done.” — Jon Westenberg

Westenberg is one of the great writers on and he inspires many people. As Westenberg mentions, he only starts projects which he is willing to commit at least 5 years into.

What projects are you willing to commit at least 5 years into? Is it a blog? A YouTube channel? A business? Think about what your main project is. Perhaps you already know?

A blog is something which takes a lot of time. It takes a lot of time to write, edit, learn, evolve and keep going. Many people give up when nobody reads, and they feel that they don’t have anything to write.

To be a blogger during a long time of period is a test. Sometimes you’re confident, other times you’re wondering what you’re doing. Is this the right thing for you?

What I’ve seen this far is how impactful a blog can be. How many people you can reach, how much you can learn and how good it feels to write about life. You get a bigger perspective about everything, and you feel better after writing a post.

It’s exciting to soon be able to celebrate one year as a blogger. I’ve learned a lot along the way, and I’m excited to soon be able to write a post once a week for example. In this way, I will be able to dig deeper into different subjects & write with much more quality.

After a great day spent with good company, I decided to eventually sit down at a café for 4 hours. To write down a strategy for this blog, and how to continue with my career.

If you want to commit 5 years to a project, you better spend hours with writing your strategy. My intuition tells me it will most likely be worth it.

Your challenge

Sit down & create strategies to your main projects for the next five years.
