Get To know Someone New!

#4 Interview A Random Stranger

Wherever you live, I bet there’s someone you don’t know. I encourage you to take the first step and meet a stranger. You will either learn nothing, or gain massive insights & wisdom.

Today’s challenge made me go outside of my comfort zone, and ask a stranger for an interview.

I’ve got a lot of inspiration from Humans of New York, and wanted to get firsthand experience from it.

I decided to say hello to the first person who seemed interesting. After a while I found an old lady.

The Interview

I told her about my current project, and she wanted to contribute by getting interviewed.

I asked her what her advice would be to someone between 18–25, and she said:

“Be humble towards yourself and other people. In this time and age empathy is important. We’re becoming more egoistical. It’s beginning to overturn. ‘There’s nothing more than your own welfare’. It’s not leading the world forward.”

How You Can Apply What I Learnt

  1. If you see someone you would like to speak with, then just do it. The worst that can happen is to get a ‘No’.
  2. Start asking older people about their life, and what advice they would give to their younger self. These type of questions can create interesting conversations.
  3. When you get to know new people new doors start to open. You will never know where they can lead you.
  4. Read more and you will get new perspectives on life.

Connecting with each other makes our stay on this earth much better.

What thrilling action are you going to make today?
