In A State Of Abundance
#20 Make A Day Without Plans Become Great
At the end of the week when you’re done with most tasks. Laziness may appear.
Many of us choose to spend our time watching Netflix, read or just do more work.
Today I decided to transform my average day into a more exciting one.
Old friends pass away, new friends appear. It is just like the days. An old day passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful: a meaningful friend — or a meaningful day. — Dalai Lama
How many social media friends do you have? 300, 600, 1000 or maybe 5000?
At some point in time you thought it would be a good idea to become ‘friends’. The important question is, how many of them do you have a deep relationship with?
What would happen if you reached out to someone ‘new’ to time to time?
Today I decided to reach out to a contact of mine. Just to find out who she is, and create some kind of relationship.
We meet up for a coffee and spent some hours together. We shared a lot of stories & life lessons to each other.
I rate an experience like this much higher than sitting at home watching Netflix.
One small action. A text message. And a different day was made. Wonderful world we live in huh?
“We drink to much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh to little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much. We have multiplied our possessions but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We’ve learned how to make a living but not a life. We’ve added years to life, not life to years” — George Carlin
How You Can Apply What I Learnt
- Search through your contact list. Find a person you would like to get to know more, and reach out.
- The world is all about stories. The stories you tell yourself, and the stories you tell others. Read some books about how to improve your storytelling.
Everywhere I look I see opportunities. New things to create, new ideas to write about or new stories to tell.
This is a great trait of mine which I love. Unfortunately it’s not worth much without one important ingredient. Action.
