What Does The Brain Say? Don’t Do It

#15 Attend Random Concert, Speak With The Singer And Ask For An Interview.

What is it like to be in your mind when there’s resistance to take action? For some people there’s almost no resistance, and for other’s the whole body signals a big “NO.

In my challenges this far I’ve felt the resistance, but not the feeling of just “NO!!”. It will come soon in the 365 day challenge. What a day it will be, jeez.

If you made a visit into my mind this far it looks like this: I’m doing something fun and enjoying myself. As an example I listened to a band today. All the sudden my brain said “You should talk to the singer”.

At first I felt like “No, brain. Please…”. At the same time I knew I needed to do it, because I were afraid of it. I prepared myself, and went for it.

“The best day of your life is the one which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on, or blame. The gift is yours- it is an amazing journey- and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins” — Bob Moawad

The Experience

When the last song were done. I began to walk towards the scene. I thought about how interesting this would be.

Once I got contact with the artist, I showed my appreciation for the performance. Then I started to ask questions about her career, and what’s about to happen in the future.

What I find interesting about meeting creative people, is to understand their creation process. How do they find inspiration? Do they make their work fast, slow, in bits or at once?

With the different replies you get, you will hear about many different ways of creating art.

To get a deeper sense of this artist’s work, I asked for an interview. I got a number, and a new contact were made.

“Over time, I came to see reaching out to people as a way to make a difference in people’s lives as well as a way to explore and learn and enrich my own; it became the conscious construction of my life’s path.” — Keith Ferrazi

How You Can Apply What I Learnt

  1. Try to be mindful when your brain says something ‘bad’. Focus on your breathing and then just go for the thing which scares you.
  2. Read about & meet people from all varieties of life. My intuition says this makes your creative mind work in a higher speed.

Think about where you would be if you never procrastinated, or did all the things you always wanted to do. Is it too late to change the bad habit? Or is it even possible?

With a challenge like this I’m beginning to get closer to the scenario above. Yet my biggest challenges are left, which excites me a lot. It’s all about taking action.

What thrilling action are you going to make today?
