So it 2017 and i’m not a marketer, I’m a creative person who had to learn how to build an online business and this is what I learned about the state of digital marketing. You should read WHY EVERY STARTUP NEEDS TO BE A MEDIA COMPANY FIRST. As this is a continuation of that post

THE MARKETING FUNNEL

This is a hypothetical funnel that all your customers have to pass through in other for you to make a sale through digital marketing. Today I would be sharing why it’s important that every business owner be aware of every step of the funnel.

ATTRACT

This is by far the widest point of the funnel and it’s basically like a net that catches a lot of potential customers, This could be a social media page, a website, a blog, youtube channel, a podcast, or the combination of all of the above.All business owners basically should want their net to be as wide as they can get it. This is also equivalent to the amount of brand you have been able to build on the internet. Most businesses don’t have any of the above thus have no system to attract customers. Other businesses have a net but have not optimized it to catch the kinds of fish they need, because of lack of understanding the customer and their needs.

CONVERT

Now to convert that visitor to a lead basically means having them take an action. This could be a follow on social media, a sign-up on a website, a subscriber or any act of interest in your brand or online business. This moves the person from a visitor to a lead. A Lot of businesses don’t even acknowledge a lead when they get one. Anyone who takes out of their time to follow or subscribe to your digital space is a potential lead. The work comes in picking out which leads to convert to customers and when they are ready. This can best be done by keeping in contact with all your leads.

DELIGHT

This is where things get very interesting we believe in give give give give then ask or jab jab jab right hook. The ideal funnel as you see above moves from convert to closing the sales. But this isn’t really the case anymore. As we live in a generation that expects a lot more from brands before we decide to use them.When you get a lead you have to give them so much value that they become promoters even before being a customer

How does this work? Well you have to give away all your best stuff for free and only charge for the implementation and execution of the services or products you offer. This article is a prime example. I just explained digital marketing to you, This is something people pay for. I may have delighted you and you can go ahead to share the article or clap for it ( promote it ) before I even try to sell you anything, half of you don’t even know what we sell.

CLOSE

Now after you have delighted the lead multiple times you can ask for the sale and close a killer deal. Which would reinforce the already delighted leads trust in your business and lead to further promotion.
