Creating a MyEtherWallet wallet to store funds

MyEtherWallet can be used to store ThinkCoin and other cryptocurrencies built on the Ethereum network. It’s important to understand that MyEtherWallet is not a bank, and you are responsible for looking after your own funds. To keep your TCO safe, make sure you follow the following steps and act safely.

1) Access the site safely.

Access the URL in the image below. Never click a link from a website or email — bookmark the site to avoid being tricked onto a phishing imitation site.

2) Enter a password

This password is used to encrypt your private key. Make sure it’s long, with a combination of letters, numbers and lower and uppercase characters. Write it down and store it safely.

3) Download your Keystore File

Download the file and save it, take the time to make a backup of the file on a seperate device. If you lose it, you won’t be able to access your funds!

4) Save your Private Key

Save your private key, and again make a backup on a seperate device. It’s very important to not share this key with anybody or to enter it on any other website, as it can be used to steal your funds. It’s recommended to store the private key in an encrypted password manager, or print out a paper version and lock it away!

5) Access your wallet

You can now access your wallet using your private key or KeyFile. Your wallet will show your address, which you can use to send and receive Ethereum, ThinkCoin and other ERC-20 tokens. Addresses look like this: 0xC2D7CF95645D33006175B78989035C7c9061d3F9

(Please note this method can be dangerous, do not enter your private key on a fraudulent website! You can improve security when accessing your wallet by using MetaMask, see our handy guide to learn more).
