What makes someone “swipe right” on a job posting? Dynamic digital product design and development firm seeks software engineering superstar for leading-edge digital innovation.

For Creatix team member David Rajnic, it can be summed up in a word: opportunity.

“When I interviewed with Creatix, the first thing that stood out to me was the way [CTO] Kamil [Krauspe] presented the vision of the company and the goals they wanted to reach. And I remember feeling… I am talking to one of the smartest software engineers in the field,” Rajnic says. “They’re very open to ideas. They listen to everyone, not just saying ‘I want it that way’ but ‘How can we do it?’ and ‘What project can we try next?’”

For today’s workers, the opportunity for professional development is increasingly important. In fact, career growth opportunities are one of the primary considerations for job seekers, second only to salary and compensation. It’s no surprise, then, that seven out of 10 people say job-related training and development opportunities directly influence their decision to stay with a company. Leadership opportunities top the list, with one survey finding that the most loyal employees stay with companies where they can gain the knowledge and support they need to achieve leadership roles.

At Creatix, helping employees achieve their fullest potential has been a top priority since day one. That commitment has only grown stronger now that we’re part of the GoHealth family. In a field as dynamic and fast-changing as software engineering, professional development is essential. That’s why GoHealth is making significant investments in our operations, so that we can continue to attract and nurture top talent like David Rajnic. Here are a few of the ways we invest in our employees and their growth.

1. Exposure to the latest tools and technologies

If there’s a tool you’ve been dying to work with, it’s likely you’ll get your chance at Creatix. We continually modernize our stack, exposing our engineers to the most advanced tools and processes as well as emerging technologies.

Now as part of the GoHealth family, our engineers partner with some of the brightest minds in the industry, gaining new experience and skills as part of a global team whose mission is to accelerate innovation. We power a platform that makes affordable health insurance available to millions of people, giving our team the opportunity to spend each day working with cutting-edge technologies and operating them at scale. They’re encouraged and challenged to help us build purpose-driven technology for a wide range of disciplines, from customer acquisition and marketing automation to AI and machine learning-enriched data engineering and analytics.

“When I joined Creatix, I had some experience with C and Delphi, but that’s about it. Everything I know, I’ve learned here,” Creatix software engineer Ivan Hlinka says. “The leadership of senior members helped out a lot in the beginning. After a while, I was able to tackle tasks on my own, and in the span of a few years, I’ve become one of the guys who are able to help others.”

2. Access to senior leaders

While Creatix has now grown to nearly 100 employees, we still make sure our team members have the chance to interact with and learn from senior leaders. We think this is one of the best ways to pass down knowledge and develop leadership skills in our young employees. It’s also an incentive for them to stay and continue to grow with us. Research shows that employees who intend to stay with their organization for more than five years are twice as likely to have a mentor (68%) than not (32%).

For Creatix member Tibor Koma, “a good leader and mentor is a good reason to join a company and stay. Not only my mentor but also my peers have turned out to be professionals and very good friends. Under their mentorship, I’ve grown from a student to a senior engineer, too. I’ve been able to put my hands on many projects and work with tool stacks and technologies carefully chosen by principal software engineers. I am happy that now I can return the favor and mentor younger colleagues coming under our roof.”

3. Brushing up on English skills

English has become the dominant language for global business, so fluency is a definite advantage. When it comes to working with U.S.-based clients, it’s an absolute must. To help team members build their skills, Creatix offers in-house English lessons with a focus on business communication. For many, though, it’s the day-to-day interaction with team members here and abroad that makes the biggest difference.

“What has really helped me grow is the opportunity to use what I learn and to see the advantages and disadvantages of the words I am using,” Rajnic says. “You can attend courses to learn English, of course, but what’s helped me more is speaking English directly to colleagues and customers.”

4. Formal development through conferences and classes

Industry conferences and classes are often inspiring, insightful and necessary to succeed in today’s competitive marketplace. That’s why it’s important to us that employees have the opportunity to network and build their skills at industry conferences and events, like the annual React conference in Bratislava.

Creatix also pays for team members to take courses through our professional learning program, including guides and books on topics ranging from coding to business operations. In addition, we offer an exchange program that gives team members the chance to travel to the U.S. to work on-site at GoHealth in Chicago. We see all of this as a win-win for our company and our team. By furthering their knowledge and capabilities, they’re better equipped to help further our collective success.

A defining moment

A career at Creatix offers enormous opportunities for professional growth and personal fulfillment. Through our work with GoHealth, our employees have the chance to accelerate their own career development while building tech that makes a difference in the lives of millions of people.
