Earlier this week, I stumbled upon this quote by Wayne Dyer where he says peace is something you choose to have.

Peace can become a lens through which you see the world. Be it. Live it. Radiate it out. Peace is an inside job. —Wayne Dyer

No one can bring you peace but yourself. Peace of mind should be a personal choice. It can’t be given to you, you don’t ask for it. Like when something is bothering you, you choose to stay away from it. You take the first step.

It’s kinda hard to explain but in reality, we make choices every day. What to wear, what to eat, which show to binge-watch, etc. And for inner peace, it becomes second nature to you once you always choose it.

If you want a more peaceful world, you make it peaceful by removing toxic things, toxic habits, and even toxic people. Yes, it’s normal to cut people from your life when they get toxic. No one wants to be unhealthy just because of other people. But more than that, you need to take a look at yourself too and ask: Am I being unhealthy? Is it me? Am I the toxic one?

Be selective with your battles. Sometimes peace is better than being right. —Unknown

Detoxifying your mind starts from within. It definitely sounds cliche and idealistic but that’s the key. Just like what we usually hear about change. And you have to keep in mind that it’s not an overnight thing. For some people, like me, it might take months of meditation and practice. And to be honest, I still got a lot to work with.

I think what’s important is to set a goal for your mind. It doesn’t matter how you do it, what matters is you start doing it.

Here’s to better mental health this month, a happier heart, calmer spirit, and prettier eyes.
