At Thinkific, our mission is to help businesses thrive and make a positive impact in the world through education. We believe when you unite business and education, you can create an unstoppable force for positive change. Our organization lives by core values like “Strive for Equality,” “Give a Shit” and “Be Helpful” at the heart of everything we do.

As part of Thinkific’s overall social impact strategy, we believe that sharing skill and knowledge is one of the most effective ways to build better and stronger communities. Our internal Thinkific Gives Back volunteer program focuses on just that — we use our own expertise, time, and resources to give back to our communities through non-profits and registered charities. Our goal is to empower our team to find their purpose and create positive change for causes that are most important to them.

So, what does Thinkific Give Back look like? Let’s dive in:

  1. Paid time off for volunteer

Thinkers can use up to 3 days per year for volunteering. Whether it be spending time at a food bank, supporting a natural disaster, giving blood, preparing hot meals for the homeless, or even speaking at an educational workshop to share knowledge with a specific community, there are endless possibilities!

“Our Thinkific Gives Back volunteer days always leave me feeling so inspired and fulfilled. They empower us to make a meaningful impact on our communities, all while having a blast and making connections with our remarkable teammates! I can’t wait to volunteer again.”

— Lauren, Talent Acquisition Partner

Every piece of trash collected means one less item that could potentially harm marine life and pollute the water!

2. Sharing resources and volunteer opportunities

Our Internal Resource Hub gives Thinkers a place to get inspired. From sharing location-specific organizations, virtual opportunities, and group initiatives, anyone can add to the growing list of possibilities. It’s a great place to explore and discover how we can use volunteer days.

3. Community building

Teamwork makes the dream work, right? Community is at the heart of social impact. That’s why our dedicated slack channel #project-thinkificgivesback provides a space where anyone can share volunteer opportunities, plan group initiatives, and celebrate our efforts! We recently had a group of Thinkers promote their Team Thinkific Great Cycle Challenge in support of fighting kids’ cancer, where they biked for the incredible cause and collected donations for their campaign!

We partner with our employee-led Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Council and Kulture Squad to spearhead volunteer initiatives and provide additional resources for Thinkers. This year, we also partnered with Purposely to coordinate group volunteer events in cities across Canada. Recently, Purposely helped us bring a group of 17 Thinkers together to support A Loving Spoonful, a local non-profit that provides free, nutritious meals to people living with HIV and co-existing illnesses in Metro Vancouver. Our team put together a whopping 821 meals in under 2 hours! Personally, I had the opportunity to meet Thinkers I may not have met otherwise and catch up with other team members, while also helping the community. What a great feeling :)

4. Donation Dollars

You might be wondering, what are Donation Dollars? Donation Dollars are funds from Thinkific that can be donated to registered charities on the Charitable Impact platform. Thinkers who use their volunteer days are eligible for Donation Dollars through a randomized draw! The type of charity is up to each individual — with over 90,000 charities to choose from, we give the choice to our Thinkers to donate to causes close to their hearts. This quarter, we sent Donation Dollars to 4 Thinkers!

“Thinkific regularly makes donations on our behalf, but winning Donation Dollars was particularly exciting as it gave me the opportunity to contribute towards specific charities I care most deeply about”

We are excited to continue this journey as we build upon our purpose, grow the program, inspire others, and make a positive impact in our community. Step by step, we know that as #TeamThinkific, we are making a difference together.
