Survey Analysis

CEED launched a digital survey aimed at engaging entrepreneurs and business owners across the city of Little Rock. The survey was deployed directly to 27 community partners and 522 minority entrepreneurs. 109 entrepreneurs engaged the survey, recording a total of 78 fully completed survey responses for a 72% completion rate. Over half of the companies surveyed were located within five miles of either the 12th Street or Southwest Little Rock business corridors.

Respondent Profile

• 93% of the respondents were for-profit entrepreneurs.
• 7% were ecosystem leaders of non-profit organizations.
• Gender participation percentage: 40% male, 60% female
• Breakdown by race: 80% African-American, 17% Caucasian, 3% Hispanic or other.
• 98% of the companies surveyed have less than 10 employees.

State of Entrepreneurial Ecosystem

• 85% of survey respondents found it more challenging to grow a business than to launch a business in Little Rock.
• Only 3% of respondents received institutional capital from a bank or private equity firm.
• None of the respondents surveyed received venture capital.
• Only 4% of respondents received investment from angel investors, friends or family.
• 70% of minority-owned businesses have not completed WBE/MBE/DBE certifications.
