In 1888, Vincent Van Gogh spent one of the most creative years of his life in the small town of Arles in the south of France. Most of the books and films made about the painter — form Kirk Douglas in Lust For Life to Willem Dafoe in At Eternity’s Gate — concentrate on this period of Van Gogh’s life.
