“I’m currently not in NYC, but still want to be involved! How can I do that?”
So great to hear that the org reonates with you! For now, non-local folks who are interested can still apply to join as a member, and if accepted, be able to access Third Eye Co.’s Mentorship platform and book sessions online with with available mentors. We’ll also keep you updated on NYC’s programming in case you’re in town, as well as leads on any future chapter openings.
“I’d love to be a mentor but I’m not based in NYC. Is it still possible to join?”
Yes! While we encourage and host IRL meetups and gatherings, mentorship sessions are the one aspect of our org that can be held online. Mentors don’t need to be based in NYC to participate and offer their time. Feel free to apply online, and we’ll get back to you with details on the logistics!
“What kind of commitment are you looking for from a mentor?”
Thanks for asking! We want to build a community that is proactive, and truly committed to carving time out to give back.While mentors have the freedom to offer availability on their schedule, we ask that you offer a time slot at least once a month, but preferably twice.This biweekly cadence will be a great pace for:
- all our interested members to be able to book sessions with you
- for you to get started and build a rhythm
- for you to have the time in between to reflect and follow up with your mentees
“Are you looking for specific traits or backgrounds from members?
We ask that interested potential members already be full-time creatives — this criteria is so that we can create programming that is focused and specific to our member base. Rather than being a platform to learn different creative practices from scratch, our org is a place to grow your craft with members’ and mentors’ support.
Another ask is that you be committed to actively engaging in our local events. It’s no fun without you! Show up, bring your best food for thought, and have a good time :)
“Do you have a [insert location other than NYC] chapter?”
Eeep, not yet! We just launched our NYC chapter a couple months ago, so it’ll take us a little bit to get into the rhythm of things here before opening other chapters. Still figurin’ it out!
“I’m not sure which capacity to get involved in! I feel like I can offer my skills in one way, but could also see myself in another role.”
