Access to AI and Generative AI with Data Residency and Low latency is Now Available via ThirdAI Running on Local AWS Wavelength Instances.

ThirdAI, in partnership with AWS and Orange, is democratizing AI access in Africa by utilizing AWS Wavelength’s local compute resources to develop and deploy advanced AI and NLP capabilities. ThirdAI’s innovative technology leverages the existing compute power of the Wavelength platform, making it possible to create affordable and sophisticated language model applications immediately. Additionally, the combined setup of ThirdAI with Wavelength addresses the region’s two critical needs — AI with data residency and low latency.

Demoing Live Today and Tomorrow at GITEX Africa 2024 in Morocco: If you’re attending the GITEX conference in Morocco, visit the Orange booth, Stand no 13B-10, Hall 13, for a live demo. Experience how ThirdAI’s technology performs real-time unstructured transaction processing and verification to prevent fraud using ThirdAI’s foundation models. ThirdAI’s unique technology processes millions of transactions per hour using a single CPU box, offering approximately 50x lower cost. The game-changing capability does not exhaust the limited compute in the Wavelength platforms. You can also explore the live demo running on wavelength instances at this [LINK].

The Urgency and the Hard Requirements for Data Residency and Low Latency: In a recent press release [Link], AWS announced a partnership to expand cloud computing in Africa region using its AWS Wavelength platform in partnership with French telecommunications giant Orange. A quote from the press release, “This will be the first time the services will be available in any country without physical AWS infrastructure such as data centers, with Orange set to house the services in its data centers”, underlines the existing urgency of meeting the exploding demands for compute and infrastructure in the Africa region. The press release further highlights some critical business requirement in the region — data residency, low latency to meet the security needs of the region. Customers across regulated industries require data to remain local and secure especially telecom, finance, public and healthcare sectors customers.

The Recipe for Democratization of AI/GenAI in Under-Served Regions Currently, access to AI/GenAI is only available in regions with heavyweight GPUs or in areas with high connectivity to regions with GPUs. Extending access to AI in under-served regions like Africa seems a daunting task that would require years of effort to bring a substantial number of compute, for example GPUs, to the region. Building long distance high connectivity between regions is not only slow but prohibitive because it does not address data residency and data sovereignty constraints.

Fortunately, there is a third way: the ThirdAI way. By aggregating the best possible compute currently available in the region and creating AWS Wavelength, ThirdAI instantly transforms these resources into an AI-ready cloud. The Future is Now!
