Andrew Begafria, Motion Graphic & Video Editor at thirdweb

Tell us about yourself and what you do at thirdweb.

Hi! I’m Andrew, I’m based in the Philippines, and am the in-house video and motion graphics editor at thirdweb.

Originally, I started as a Graphic Designer and found myself more interested in video editing. A natural progression from there was exploring motion graphics and animation. At thirdweb, I receive a script from the team to understand our ideas, and the purpose of our stories as well as how it works into our marketing strategy.

I come in by making scripts into reality to make it easier for our developers to understand what we do here at thirdweb. We’re always improving and innovating towards the better and best strategy to make our videos better every week to capture more of the market.

What are the values/team principles of the marketing team?

Our company values are very much alive within what we do on the marketing team. Teamwork is really important to us. I bounce ideas around with Sian, our Video Producer and we work together to get our content ideas right and timelines hashed out to produce high quality content.

Working as a team makes it so much easier to feel a sense of cohesion and feel less siloed especially in a digital-first environment where timezones are a challenge. We proactively collaborate to find out how we can support each other in a smooth way especially because there are a fair amount of logistics involved to send and receive large files that support the content we produce.

We also try as much as possible to host some real-time syncs and submit content in a timely way.

We have ambitious projects and videos that can take weeks with other agencies but using our value of Iterating Up we do our best to kick things out and improve upon our creative talent and skill to move projects forward faster.

Tell us about thirdweb’s approach to marketing.

We have a learning mindset and we grow a lot on a weekly basis. We dig into web3 as a subject and there’s so much to discover! We are thought leaders in the space so we spend a lot of time digging into how we’re exploring web3 and share our learnings with our customers to take them along for the ride with us.

It’s been an affective strategy so far, and we’re excited to see how focusing on developers and providing value through tutorials has been really positive so far and made a big impact on our community — thirdweb as a company, has supported that direction.

The team has varied backgrounds and levels of experience, how does this impact the work that we do on the marketing team?

For what we do as a company and especially on the marketing team, we have a really great system that encourages us to comment and share ideas. When we produce a video other people will react positively to it and it’s really exciting to see.

What are some of the main obstacles our team faces and how do they overcome them?

It’s less of an obstacle and more of a challenge. We’ll often run a video or marketing push where the concept takes time to produce. Pushing timelines can be tough because we operate on a pretty tight schedule.

The main issue we face is time to achieve the level of quality we really want. The way we get through it is to emphasize teamwork into our workflow which supports the production of the work in a way that maintains quality. I love it because these challenges push me as a creative and I appreciate the growth aspect of that.

Thirdweb is a young company, what are you actively working on that you know is making a positive impact on our company vision?

When there’s a significant product push we create content for it. Right now we’re making a lot of educational content to support the growth of our community and share our learnings about how to get started in web3. It’s providing a lot of value to our audience and especially developers that supports the high level of our company and this translates to our developers using our product.

You’ll notice our current videos already support this and we have a high level of trust with our developers because we’re not pushing something on people — rather supporting questions they’re already asking themselves.

Right now we’re exploring and experimenting with short form videos to see how these land with the community and how to make shorts work to drive audience growth.
