Gareth Roberts is our Director of Experience Design at Thirst. It is of little surprise then that design is is Gareth’s blood, with a past covering industrial design, engineering and interaction design. Today we uncover some more obscure facts about Gareth as a part of our semi regular Thirst team series.

When did you start at Thirst?

2015

Where are you from?

Ballarat

Prior to Thirst I…

Experience designer at Think Brownstone (Philadelphia, PA), Mechanical Engineer.

What fuels you?

Being able to help others through creativity.

What is one thing that could make the world a better place?

Empathy — if we all could empathise with others, the world would be a far happier place.

When you’re at the studio, what do you get your kicks from?

I love tackling ‘wicked’ design challenges and coming up with solutions that have the ability to help people complete digital tasks and have more time for the things that really matter in life, like family and happiness.

What has working in this industry taught you?

To be patient, and to be happy designing to the best of my ability within constraints. Art is making something perfect, Design is making something perfect within the constraints of the project.

What does accomplishment feel like?

Seeing projects go live, and having a happy client at the end.

What is, or could be your superpower?

Being able to pick the one spot in a crowded room that inevitably puts me right in everyone’s way.

What is your go to afternoon snack?

Kit-Kat

What is your spirit animal?

The noble Giraffe
