30 Seconds with 30M: Sophie Maarleveld
What does a typical day look like for you?
In a typical day I’m usually talking/meeting/thinking about a wide range of things related to the Thirty Madison patient experience, from how we leverage technology to meet patients’ needs faster, to capacity planning for patient-facing teams, to the operational frameworks that will enable us to take insurance.
How did you end up at Thirty Madison?
Before joining Thirty Madison I spent three years in the hospitality industry as a restaurant General Manager and Beverage Director. I came to Thirty Madison for the opportunity to translate my passion for creating delightful experiences that build brand loyalty and managing a team, to an industry with a different degree of impact on people’s lives.
What’s the most impactful thing you’ve learned while at Thirty Madison?
The value of a team of smart, passionate, low-ego individuals. It is incredible how much we were able to accomplish with Keeps in the first year with just a handful of people, and everything good we’ve done since then has had a modest team of brilliant people behind it. With the right team, especially one that can recognize its strengths, navigate its weaknesses, and embrace constant change, anything is possible.

What career advice do you have for someone who’s interested in healthcare but is not sure where to start?
This isn’t specific to healthcare, but I always recommend prioritizing finding a role and a company that are going to make the most of one’s individual strengths and provide opportunities for continuous learning. If you can match that with a mission that really energizes you, then you’re bound to be challenged and fulfilled in your work.
What’s a fun fact about you?
I have three passports!
