I am in Europe, and we still have some hours left before the year turns into a new one.

This is the last day of December and the days between Christmas and New Year (or for some it lasts even until January 6th, Epiphany) have always been a time to for me to slow down, connect with friends and family, and connect with myself.

This period of the year is a quiet and slow time, especially if you live in the Northern Hemisphere with winter atmosphere, where days are short, temperatures are low, perhaps even with snow, and you spend more time indoors. It helps to calm down and to take some time to think of and care for your family, your friends and yourself.

You can choose with whom and how you want to spend and experience this period of the year. I appreciate this time for reflecting and connecting instead of chasing gifts and Christmas parties.

What is so great about connecting with friends around Christmastime

Connecting with friends and family members that are dear to me and deepening these connections feels like a long-lasting gift. It feels like a cozy, warm blanket. Obviously, caring for profound relationships is not bound to Christmastime and should certainly be an all year…
