1. Check your eligibility:

The first step is to determine if you are eligible to apply for a PR visa through the skilled migration program. To be eligible, you must:

  • Have a skill that is in demand in Australia
  • Meet the age requirements (typically, you must be under 45 years old)
  • Have some work experience in your skilled occupation (might be optional depending upon the migration requirements during that period)
  • Have a sufficient level of English language proficiency

2. Obtain a positive skills assessment:

In order to apply for a PR visa through the skilled migration program, you will need to have your skills and qualifications assessed by the relevant assessing authority in Australia. This will determine if your skills are suitable for the Australian labor market.

3. Lodge an expression of interest (EOI):

Once you have obtained a positive skills assessment, you will need to lodge an expression of interest (EOI) through the Department of Home Affairs’ SkillSelect system. This is an online system that allows you to express your interest in being considered for a PR visa through the skilled migration program.

4. Receive an invitation to apply:

If your EOI is successful, you will receive an invitation to apply for a PR visa from the Department of Home Affairs. You will typically have 60 days to submit a complete application.

5. Submit a complete application:

To apply for a PR visa through the skilled migration program, you will need to submit a complete application to the Department of Home Affairs. This will include supporting documents, such as your skills assessment, evidence of your work experience, and proof of your English language proficiency.

6. Wait for a decision:

Once you have submitted your application, you will need to wait for a decision from the Department of Home Affairs. This process can take several months, so it’s important to be patient.
