The overwhelming majority of people in America are part of one or more kinds of minority or marginalized demographic.
For example, I am white, but am a progressive Christian and disabled woman. As a woman, I am marginalized, without even the dignity of bodily autonomy. Disabled people are a minority demographic. The rightwing version of Christianity now preaching against the “sin of empathy” considers me an apostate.
People, open your eyes!
The minorities who make up marginalized demographics in the USA are the overwhelming majority of society. Break it down: Women and girls, the LGBTQ, BIPOC (that’s Black citizens, Indigenous citizens, brown immigrants legal or undocumented, Hispanic and Latino citizens), disabled Americans, other religious groups (including progressive Christianity), plus naturalized immigrant Americans and their children…. All these people are part of marginalized groups. You can include the poor and formerly incarcerated in that mix of marginalized people.
Only 60.1% of Americans are white, according to 2020 Census data. Sightly more than half of those white people are women. Yes, white women, you too are marginalized…
