Harvard University Fights Back
And not just with a lawsuit
During the 2023–2024 academic year, international students at universities and colleges in the U.S. contributed $43.8 billion to the U.S. economy and supported more than 378,000 jobs.
You would think our government would approve of more jobs and more money to bolster our economy. Trump apparently does not.
Let’s take just a moment for background:
- April 16: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) demanded that Harvard University provide considerable information about its international students. Harvard complied, but with less than considerable information.
- May 7: DHS issued threats to get more information.
- April 30 and May 14: Harvard provided more information but argued against the invasion of its students’ privacy.
- May 22: DHS revoked Harvard’s ability to enroll international students.
- May 23, two days ago, Harvard sued the Trump administration to block the revocation. On the same day, a federal judge temporarily blocked the revocation until the courts have time to decide the issue.
Harvard, the most prestigious university in the U.S., is being bullied by the Trump administration.
