During the Pandemic, the panic buying, and supply chain interruption, shelves were empty. Americans got their first experience in generations with wide spread food scarcity, however minimal. Corporate price gouging also drove up costs in the recovery period.

While Trump’s policies in his first term worsened our troubles, you couldn’t really say the problems were wholly his or our fault. The drivers of scarcity this time are far different than the Pandemic and post-Pandemic troubles. This time, it is Americans’ fault. The looming food scarcity we’re facing now is self-inflicted because Americans elected Trump again. And, this time, the pain is deliberate and intentionally cruel from Trump’s own hand.

USDA withdraws proposed framework to reduce salmonella illness from poultry

Adding to the cruelty and incompetence, the newly rescinded salmonella prevention policies. The holidays have long been the time when salmonella illnesses are most prominent. The Biden Administration instituted a planned policy to limit salmonella in raw poultry.
