Pete’s Pentagon Wiretapping Soap Opera
Everyone is cheating on everyone! And whose baby is it?!
I confess, I used to watch daytime soap operas. I was really into General Hospital and the Luke and Laura story arc in the early 1980s. I even subscribed to Soap Opera Digest back then.
What does any of that have to do with Pete Hegseth and the firings of his close staff and advisors for leaks, and now the allegations of illegal wiretapping?
Well, firstly, I’m weird, and this is how my brain works. Secondly, just read — try to read, that is, and good luck to you — the article in The Guardian about this alleged wiretapping. The article is about how so-and-so accused somebody of such-and-such and then somebody got revenge by claiming such-and-such, which so-and-so suspected was a lie and then accused the other guy of a lie, which caused a rupture, which led to accusations and backstabbing… And whose baby is it?!
That last part is not in the article, just my addition.
You see, trying to follow what is going on in Pete Hegseth’s Pentagon is like trying to catch up on everything that has been happening in a soap opera.
It is a soap opera! Except, of course, there are no female characters involved in…
