Republican Cuts to Medicaid Will Hit MAGA States The Hardest
Numbers don’t lie, so I’m going to spell out the math
If you live in rural America and own a red MAGA shirt and a red MAGA cap, you need to understand whom the Republicans in Congress are anxious to help. Hint: It is not you.
The priority for Republicans in Congress is to extend the tax cuts from Trump’s first administration, which are set to expire this year. To be fair, those tax cuts affect all income brackets. However, the tax cuts for you and me amount to maybe two dozen eggs or three pounds of ground beef at today’s prices.
The big bucks are in the tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires.
This is the number one priority for Republicans: Helping the super wealthy pay less in taxes.
Back in the old days, Republicans at least tried to spin a story about how that was good for us peasants because, they said, rich people not paying taxes meant they would turn around and invest in businesses, which would give you good jobs and higher wages. Yeah. Right. That was Ronald Reagan’s promise. I’m still waiting for something to “trickle down” to me. Been waiting for 40 years.
