I was going to write a serious analysis of tariff policy, a recap of what happened with the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act of 1930, and a fair and balanced weighing of the debate between advocates of protectionism versus free trade… and then I saw that Trump put a tariff on an island of penguins and I said, “Naw! F*ck the analysis! I gotta talk penguins!!!”

The Trump people don’t know what in the bloody hell they are doing!

Umm, that section heading could stand on its own. I could type “the end.” That would be the shortest but most accurate article I’ve ever written. However, if anyone thinks there is a method to the Trumpian madness, I will fill in some details to prove there is no method, just madness.

Obviously, announcing a “reciprocal” tariff upon an island where no humans live is sufficient proof of madness (idiocy, lunacy, stupidity, etc.). But let us look a little closer, shall we? The Heard and McDonald islands, located halfway between…
