Unlearning Vocabulary

We take it as a given that workplace is where learning takes place. (ideally)

In most jobs the learning curve is at its steepest in the early days of the job. Later on it eventually flattens and then starts approaching the X axis.

Overlooked and neglected there is a simultaneous process taking place —the process of unlearning.

It begins a few months or years into the job and reaches its peak just after leaving.

Potentially related to the process, some physiological and psychological symptoms can be observed — nausea, anxiety and even anger.

The only known effective medication is time.

3 years later I now seem to be able to touch base again. If the push comes to shove, I might even be able to work in a war room.

But please don’t ask me to brainstorm, synchronize, or do anything interactive.

You might follow me on Twitter or
add your nausea inflicting words to the comments.
