I Was Laid Off Today

I was laid off today and I’m not mad, although the particular day is very curious. I understand the decision had to be made, because we’ve had a few hiccups recently getting clients to sign the dotted line. We ran into the same problems that any startup runs into: requiring more runway than cash or time would allow, and thus a forced decision to stay afloat.

Facing Reality

Being laid off can be pretty shocking at first but usually if you look back you can see plenty of signs that pointed towards the likelihood of it actually happening. Luckily for me and anyone else working in the tech or startup community, being laid off isn’t the end of the world. There are thousands of companies looking for someone with our experience to join their team today. This is a very fortunate benefit of working in this industry at this time. I have seen plenty of other people that work in different areas truly struggle when times like these arise.

I will miss my co-workers

They are all a great bunch of guys that were a true joy to work with and also super talented. It was always great to be able to learn something new and valuable each day I came to work. So I’d like to leave a sincere thank you to everyone I ever had the pleasure of working with at Twin Engine Labs and wish them the best of luck in their future ventures.

Looking forward

With my current experience, dedication, and passion for the tech industry, I only see myself learning more and working even harder. I want to make a difference with my work and will be looking for a place where I can make that come true. A place where the employees are extremely passionate about providing a service that really helps and improves peoples lives and they know how to execute on that passion.

If you know of a place like that or work for one, send me a message at dilloncurry@gmail.com or send me a tweet. Thanks!
