Sleeping in line for Hall H/ Gillian ANG

Sleeping on pavement at San Diego Comic-Con

a sleeping bag is a MUST.

I was promised celebrity sightings if I went to Comic-Con in 2012. Sold. I went. What I didn’t realise was, that to see them, I had to sleep on the pavement.

“Can I bring my pillow and blanket?” I asked my partner. “No. It’s too bulky. You wouldn’t want to lug those around post-panel.” The pillows and blanket was left behind. But in an act of defiance, I packed my towel.

My partner was wrong. My sore back wanted want my bulky pillow and blanket. All around me, geek culture devotees were armed with sleeping bags and plush pillows. And all I had was my small inflatable ‘Community’ pillow that kept deflating. My towel, on the other hand, was a life saver. The steady breeze through out the night, decreed it.

“I’m never going to let anyone curtail my supplies again.” I hissed to my partner after a sleep-deprived night. “I don’t understand this queuing madness! ”

10 hours later, after seeing RDJ waltz into the Hall for the Iron Man 3 panel, I had this to say.

“When we return next year, we need sleeping bags and themos flasks. Also, we should start to queue earlier too.”
