Virgin Media Shorts

An action-packed evening, recognising some of the country’s most talented film-makers.

Drinks before the event

I had no idea what to expect, because I hadn't ever been to the Virgin Media Shorts Awards before. The moment I arrived, I was blown away by just how much effort had gone into making the event one to remember. From free champagne on the door to popcorn waiting on our seats, it was great!

Before the award ceremony even begun, it was clear that somebody was enjoying their popcorn!

Although to be fair, so was I…

The awards were presented by comedian and writer Danny Wallace, who kept everybody entertained for the evening. You can watch all the entries from the finalists here. There was a huge £30,000 film fund grand prize, so as you can imagine, there was lots tension building up to when film director, Shane Meadows, read out the name of the overall winner.

You can watch Nimer Rashed’s winning film, Touch, here: http://youtu.be/lNzh1bRlAhM. Awards were also presented to the double-winning ‘Just Say Hi’, who won the TiVo and Nikon People’s Award. After the award ceremony, guests were treated to more cocktails, canapes and a silver dance floor, spinning to Jarvis Cocker on the decks.

I had a great night—thanks so much to everybody at Virgin Media!
