The ‘normal’ working day has changed quite significantly since the outbreak of COVID-19. The majority of our staff are now working from home and we’ve also been supporting our customer base in ensuring they are set up for remote working themselves.

With our support GP’s from 4 Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) are now delivering virtual clinics for patients across over 100 sites reducing travel and risk to others. 14 COVID-19 Hotsites/Hubs were set up for 4 CCGs in order to deliver services to patients showing symptoms without them going to their standard GP surgery.

In addition to the above, CHFT has now the ability to deliver virtual clinics across the following areas:

  • Arrythmia Nurse Led
  • Antenatal at both Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary
  • Breast Care Nurse follow up
  • Cardiology
  • Community Dietetics
  • Community Midwifery (9 Clinics)
  • Community SALT
  • Diabetes
  • Endocrinology
  • Gastro
  • Haematology
  • MSK
  • Oncology
  • Paediatrics
  • Respiratory
  • Rheumatology
  • Stroke Discharge
  • My Knee

The majority of corporate and HQ functions from 7 organisations are working remotely as per the advice by Government in order to reduce the spread of the virus within the region.

EPR training sessions being delivered remotely using Microsoft TEAMs to redeployed clinical staff, returning to work, in order to increase the capacity of the clinical workforce. These sessions have been well received with good interaction.

Left: Sarah delivering EPR virtually to redeployed nurses. Right: Video software EPR Team are using to create e-Learning videos.

They are also using Video Editor software through Windows 10 and an authoring tool called Active Presenter to created both videos and Bitesized e-Learning packages.

To assist with alternative learning a webpage has been developed with access to a range of e-learning packages and virtual training sessions.

We are extremely proud of the effort our staff have made since the outbreak of the virus in supporting not only ourselves but also each and everyone of our customers. And they certainly appreciate the help, see what they’ve been saying.

“I am just emailing to say thank you as most of the finance team are up and running with VDI. The exceptional work you and your team are doing at this time was commented on and recognised in our team meeting this morning. Please pass on our thanks to your team, it is really appreciated.
Michelle Whitehead, Head of Finance, NHS Wakefield CCG.

“I would add what great support we are receiving”
Ian Whiteman — Head of Information Management and Technology CKW CCG

“Judy has asked for spectrums thanks to be passed on to the service desk and all support staff for the efforts we are going to help and support them.”
Judy Threlfall-Sykes, Head of Digital, Spectrum Community Health CIC

“Just wanted to say thank you for getting on the VPN stuff earlier this week — seems that we’re pretty much sorted now. Please pass this on to those that did all the hard work.”
Andy Harris — General Manager, Xlab

The hard work isn’t over yet, and we’re ready to continue supporting our own staff and customers as we continue to fight this virus.

Please remember to follow the government guidelines. Stay at home, protect the NHS, and save lives.
