Looking back to 2018 and reflecting on what has been achieved across our local health community, once again makes me feel proud to be part of the organisation I work for and those I work with.

2018 has been a year of collaboration; we have seen how by organisations working together great things can be achieved. The most significant thing for me has been how digital has enabled our ability to improve our patient experience by the sharing of information in real time across our locality. We are now starting to see the benefits of all the hard work in developing a system that is fit for purpose and we will continue to evolve this as the sharing covers not only primary and secondary care but adult social care, mental health care and the Yorkshire Ambulance services.

All this work will feed into the broader national agenda supported by the West Yorkshire Integrated Care System (ICS), where we have seen funding being made available to develop the Yorkshire Health Care Record (YHCR) through the Local Health Care Exemplar (LHCRE) agenda. This will provide the glue that will enable the integration of what has already been developed locally to be integrated to the wider population.

The National Pathology Exchange (NPEx) continues to grow from strength to strength; the last newsletter described how we are now working with NHS England on the Genomics project. The project is making good progress. We have recently been successful in a bid to build on the resilience of the NPEx product for ourlocal and national partners and a plan is being developed to ensure the funding is put to gooduse over the next 2 years.

THIS continues to provide the highest level of service to all its customer organisations, with our Net Promoter Score (NPS) consistently delivering a score of over 75. Something to be proud of alongwith our ability to continue to meet the standardsrequired for the 3 ISO accreditations, 20000, 27001 and 9001. We firmly believe this sets usapart from the rest and gives our customers assurance around our ability to deliver excellent business standards.

The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) came into force in May 2018. THIS was well placed to provide support and guidance across our customer base and beyond, as well as strengthen our processes around cyber security. This has been achieved by introducing the recommended standards and working in partnership with NHS Digital on Cyber Essentials and the Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) protocols.

As we move through 2019, we will continue to ensure we protect and serve our customers and colleagues to the best of our ability. I would like to express my gratitude to all of you for the support, commitment and loyalty you continue to show.
