Is Moff Gideon a Sith Lord?

At the time of The Mandalorian story, it is pretty clear that Moff Gideon is not a Sith Lord even though he has the Darksaber in his possession nor does he have any links to the Jedi.

Moff Gideon is nothing more than one of the Empire’s existing bad guys who officially worked for the Imperial Security Bureau.

He was given his own planetary system to oversee which is why he has the title “Moff.”

Gideon wants to see the rise of the Empire again and harbours aspirations to become its leader.

He was seen to use the term “Long Live the Empire.” in The Mandalorian Chapter 11: The Heiress after ordering the officer on the ship, that Din Djarin and Bo-Katan were hijacking and stealing weapons from, to crash the ship and sacrifice the crew for the good of the Empire.

One explanation as to why Gideon is so interested in Grogu in The Mandalorian is that he is looking to extract Grogu’s force powers to become a new Sith Lord and become the next Darth Vader but more likely is that he wants to take advantage of Baby Yoda’s medichlorine count to enhance his Dark Troopers.
