The goats that are placed in enclosures at the University of Valencia are for experimental purposes. The student test how their able to consume certain foods, how they deal with certain enclosures, and how quickly they can produce food (or milk) based on these experiments.
Juan Garcia-Puiz is the upper level, professional, Valencian Astros coach. He’s been leading the team since it was declared an official team in 2001.
The coach for the youth Valencian Astros league, Tomas Acosta, is a retired cop from Naples, Florida. He said, “in the states, it can be dicey for law enforcement, especially now, I’m presuming. After that, I decided you know what? I’m going to take my retirement and I’ll leave.”
Acosta finds him American lifestyle bleeding into the youth league, “ You get habits, coaching habits in the states. You use them here, it’s the same thing. The kids enjoy it. Sometimes you make it a fun day because just to get them at ease or to have a relaxed day. So yeah, I do use some technique from back home.”
The view from leaving Valencia, Spain in the eastern direction. The plane ride from Valencia to Majorca is about 55 minutes. Along the way, you can spot many larger ships from the plane, oftentimes resembling a tiny white speck with a trail of waves behind it.
On Saturday, June 9, Colette Bernsteen, Adenike Lewis and Ally Moreo biked from Palma, Majorca to Playa Cala Pi and back. “After biking 40 hard miles my legs have never felt stronger,” Bersteen said, “these types of moments are what make me most grateful to be in Spain.”
The cove at Cala Pi was tucked away alongside the southern coast of Majorca, an island in the Mediterranean. It was not near any major city, with only one road that leads to it. The water is decently shallow, which allowed a lot of the smaller children to play in the water.
Rain decided to hit hard during nighttime in Majorca. Both Saturday and Sunday nights were filled with thunder, lightning and rain.
Acosta demonstrates what the kids can improve on himself. Oftentimes he will tell them to continue to do one drill until they can do it correctly.
