Everyone has heard about drones. I’ll give a quick intro. A drone is an unmanned aircraft or a flying robot that can fly autonomously using software-controlled flight plans in its embedded systems that work in conjunction with onboard sensors and GPS.

We are all aware that the world is on the verge of a new drone revolution. What a drone is for us now was once mobile and the Internet for us some years back. In other words,

Drones (now) = mobile & internet (some years back)

The government is planning to make drones an $18–20 billion industry by 2030.

Let’s look at some point how it is going to ease our daily work:

  • Drones are going to help people and the government with vaccine delivery and mapping of land parcels.
  • In a statement, Union aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scandia says that in some months, we can expect drone Taxi prototypes to become operational around the world. The drone revolution is going to be the traffic buster technology and it will soon find its way to India.
  • Drones will multiply employment. The value chain of drones includes manufacturing hardware and software. For example, in India, there are many engineering talents for manufacturing drones. Software includes programming. Every use of a drone is premised on a software program. Using drones for different purposes will require completely different programming. Hence, we will need millions of software programmers.

And after that comes the application part of the drone. This opens a new site of opportunities for 1.3 billion people in India. It has a wide variety of uses across the world, so there will be a lot of startups and medicine distribution from the sky has already started in Telangana and in Bhavnagar through the use of drones. Nano urea has been sprayed on farms, which has significant health benefits for farmers.

There are already 200+ startups in the drone space. Today, the drone industry in India is worth 70 to 80 crores, and it will go up to ₹ 1500 crores in three years. It will be supplanted by a huge amount.

To explain more about the employment multiplier, I want to give the example of the Swamitva scheme, which will cover over 6.6 lakh villages in India where a lack of drones will lead to the requirement of millions of pilots and other staff.

These are as per my observation and I believe drones are going to give a turn in our daily life and will change the way of our daily tasks.
