THE IMPORTANCE OF HISTORY IN OUR LIVES
Most of us consider history a boring and dull subject, but it has great relevance in our lives. We could learn innumerable lessons from the past to make our present and future bright.
- The historical places like Jama Masjid at Delhi and Golden Temple at Amritsar, teach us the significance of God in the entire - universe. They imbibe in us the values of humanity and spirituality, to make us lead on the right path.
- The Islamic literature during the period of AD. 500 to 1500 was at its peak. The collection of famous stories like in ' Arabian Knights ' is the product of that period.
- The Chinese became highly advanced during the period of the 10th to 12th century. They were the first to develop compass, paper, printing press, and gun powder. Slowly and gradually, the whole world captured knowledge from them and made further improvements in their inventions.
- India was the first country to give zero to the entire world. The whole world become advanced, only due to the past inventions and discoveries by great scientists. experiences of the heroes and villains of the bygone era, to brighten up our future.
- The victory of Turkish invaders over the Rajput portray the consequences of- " disunity " , in the country The Rajput were brave rulers but kept on fighting with each other . The Turks took advantage of their disunity and conquered their territories, after defeating them in the wars. From their defeat, we should learn a lesson of " UNITY ", " HARMONY " and " INTEGRITY ".
If the people of our country would become disunited, then, the outer forces would conquer our country and make us their slaves. Our past poets like Kabir taught us the values of " brotherhood " through their couplets. Kabir said you may call God by various names, but God is one and the same supreme power of the entire universe. Guru Nanak said that one of the simplest ways to remain close to God was to love God from the core of your heart. Guru Nanak disliked various practices and rituals done to please God. He said that what is the use of all these rituals when you don’t have any love for God. He attributed that the best way to please God was to love him.
The history salutes all the patriotic heroes and spiritual personalities who imbibed moral values in us and made us tread , on the right path.
