NHS Graphic Identity Guidelines: Logo, Fonts and Colours

The NHS published in 2017 a new graphic identity policy to be used by NHS organisations across England, it includes the use of a consistent logo, extended colour palette and consistent use of fonts. The refreshed brand guidelines define how the logo should be used by NHS organisations and services.

The guidelines are a clear framework for correct application of design across all media, which should help maintain public confidence in the NHS organisations corporate materials and communications to patients and staff.

The logo remains the same as first introduced in 1999, using NHS Blue (Pantone 300) and white, but the new guidelines clarify the framework for how it should be used, along with a refreshed visual identity broadening the colour scheme and limiting fonts. It features new digital guidelines to allow versatility within websites and other online applications.

By introducing the new branding rules, the focus has been to refresh corporate materials, so the NHS identity can be applied in a consistent and uniform way, to re-enforce the quality of healthcare being provided wherever it is being provided by the NHS.
