Dear Thortspace … My Thortspace App is behaving strangely (eg. low framerate or pictures missing).

A.k.a. “how to delete your Thortspace cache”

If you are running a Microsoft Windows desktop computer, see the following article:

Otherwise read on:

The most likely cause of the Thortspace App working incorrectly on a give device or machine is that the “Thortspace Cache” has become corrupted. The Thortspace cache is a place where Thortspace stores files on your device or computer itself. Doing so makes it possible for Thortspace users to work offline without connecting to the internet, so most this cache is a benefit.

However if the cache has been damaged somehow, it can cause the Thortspace App to malfunction. To fix this problem we can simply delete the cache and then Thortspace will recreate it again from your Thortspace cloud storage account when you log back in.

Important Warning — if you have been creating spheres without being logged in to Thortspace cloud service, and you do the following procedure (deleting your cache), you will lose all your local sphere data and will not be able to get it back! So it is only recommended to delete your cache if you were logged in to Thortspace cloud service prior to when the Thortspace App did at least previously start on your machine, and all of your spheres were synced.

Apple iOS (ie. iPad, iPhone, etc)

Inside the Thortspace App, go to the home screen and make a note of your Thortspace Cloud Account email — the one that you have used to create a Thortspace Premium Account or regular Thortspace Account.

After you have deleted your cache, you will have to log in again so as to restore all your Thortspace spheres. So you will need to know the email address that you are using to log into Thortspace.

Deleting your Thortspace cache on an Apple iPad or iPhone is straight-forwards. Simply delete the App itself and then reinstall the App from the Appstore.

Deleting the App has the effect of also deleting the Thortspace cache. After you have re-installed the Thortspace App, log back into your Thortspace account, and all your spheres will be restored.
