Taking things apart and putting them back together … these are the fundamental tasks of thinking

The fundamental use-case for Thortspace as originally envisioned, was #clarification . I think perhaps I have failed to make communicate this in a way it is obvious to people because I take it so completely for granted in my thinking about Thortspace.

Well, that is to say #clarification and #elucidation:

• #Clarification is the process of #analysis — breaking bigger things down into the components they are made of.
• #Elucidation is the process of #synthesis — putting things together to see how they fit in the context of larger wholes.

Many mind-mapping tools are very good at analysis, but not so good at synthesis. Thortspace at least tries to balance analysis and synthesis together.

The splitting and clumping in Thortspace is a #playful activity — not merely or only an analytic process. I think that is why using Thortspace can be #fun providing imediate experiencial rewards, as well as giving rising to compelling actionable #insights.
