Thortspace live ! was an online chat-style webinar / workshop / Q&A / discussion group where we talked about all-things-Thortspace.

For the time being we have retired this format and replaced it with Free individual webinars which can be booked via our facebook page and facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/thortspace/

Our world is facing crises along multiple dimensions.

We need better media in which we can think collaboratively — media which would allow us,
as a community of thinkers, to achieve transformational thinking.

Thortspace is the world’s first collaborative 3D mind mapping software.

Thortspace aggregates the thinking of crowds, in a qualitative rather than quantitative way, to produce wholes that redefine the meaning of their parts.

Install the Free Thortspace App on Windows, Mac, Android, iPad and Linux.

Colin has said he will put together something special for the next one. So don’t miss it !

We’ll initially be using Zoom and see how that goes.

Join us at 2pm (BST ie. UTC+1) on Friday 5th July 2019 on the following https://zoom.us/j/953628001

The related Facebook event (where you can post topics you would like discussed on the webinar, or propose ways the webinar could be structured or other comments ahead of time) is here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1219347201577791/

Colin says:

Always a fantastic learning experience when I step Andrew Bindon through my Thortspace journey. The Thortspace wall has become my GoTo platform to conduct all of my networking activities. Andrew Bindon is a wonderful mentor and helps me define and implement the next steps. I am planning to produce a Public Sphere by end May which will demonstrate how to build a Network TS.

Andrew says:

I’ve come to realise that I like to think about Thortspace in a hocus-pocus “spiritual” kind of way. I always did like to think about it that way, but I only realised how important that was for me when it started to get challenged.

Thortspace seems to be about a software product, but really it’s not. The Thortspace software product is an expression of something, not an ends in itself… the product is a way of making a mystery tangible.

You have to let the product guide you into the mystery. You can’t tell the product what it ought to be. You have to listen and let it tell you. That’s why none of the scheming works. The only thing that works is paying attention.

Below are the beginnings of a series of sessions with Andrew Bindon, Dasaratha Rama and Colin Horner, where they discuss how any of us have been using Thortspace, and other related useful topics.

For the best experience watching the videos, don’t forget to set your YouTube resolution quality to the highest available resolution. In the bottom-right corner of the YouTube player, click the cog button, and set the Quality to 1080p.

Webinar #3–24th May 2019 (Part1)

“It started off with a set of ears, and then it was a nose, then it was a line to a back and eventually it was a mouse. At a point in time you don’t need to go further because your brain connects up the gaps.”

Colin in South Africa, Rama in Florida and Andrew in the UK discuss how they use Thortspace.

Rama introduces a very interesting discussion of the use of learning terminology, taxonomy and glossary as a route in to learning about new subjects. And then Colin connects this to related ideas in Sketchnoting and Gestalt theory. This is done to enable “rapid learning” aka “accelerated learning”.

Rama also discusses using Thortspace with Plectica and Thortspace with Wakelet, using collections of tools in harmony with each other, and using Thortspace as a visual storytelling tool.

Webinar #3–24th May 2019 (Part2)

“I think I’ve realised how you called it Thortspace … Thortspace has become my thought space.”

In part 2, Colin discusses how Thortspace can be used as “life dashboard”.

This is part2 of a 3 part series of “Thortspace Live !” recorder on 24th May 2019.

You can let us know you’ll be coming to the next “Thortspace Live !” event here:

Webinar #3–24th May 2019 (Part3)

“At the end of the day, we’re all trying to accomplish something, instead of being wrapped up in the tools.”

This is the last part of a 3 part series of the “Thortspace Live !” on 24th May 2019.

If you want to join in the next “Thortspace Live !” event, you can let us know you’re coming here:
https://www.facebook.com/events/1219347201577791/

Following on from Parts 1 and 2, Rama, Colin and Andrew discuss how the way they each use Thortspace is similar and different, and what opportunities we see in each other’s approaches.

Webinar #2 — 3rd May 2019
