Day 20 — Why we’re Fat | Kristin Shaffer | 100 Days 100 Thoughts
Howdy Folks !!
Today, weight loss and diet charts are most searched terms. Why are we Fat is the biggest question that needs to be answered and in this Ted Talk, Kirstin Shaffer gives us the answer in the simplest way possible. Yes, she gives you the solution too.
Welcome Back !!
In the name of variety, we are opting for the similar foods presented in different ways. According to Kristin’s talk, 60–70% of the calorific intake comes from Sugar, Soy, Corn, Wheat and rice. This not only stands true for an American but fits for a fellow Indian too. The Fat was vilified over the years and Carbs took the place of healthy food. But carb has its own issue and Fats are essential for the human body.
What makes this even worse is the fact that these carbs are refined and industrialised. These carbs offer less nutritional value and more calorific value. With the addition of addictive refined sugar, binge eating starts and we end up consuming more than necessary. The process of eating healthy and eating what’s necessary is so simple, all you have to do is cut down the simple carbs and go for proteins, fats and complex carbs. In simpler terms, lesser rice and roti and more of dal and sabzi. Go for more veggies and reduce the rice and grains. You don’t have to starve you stay healthy and lose weight. You have to eat right to lose weight. If you are interested more on this, I will share the little I know through my blogs here.
