Human nature is subjective and hard to define, we are distinct creatures with our own thought processes, principles, and set of core beliefs.

We’re all unique individuals with a common set of emotions; happiness, sadness, anger, despair, fear, loneliness, anxiety, insecurity… the list goes on. And if you take the time to peel back the layers, that is where you’ll begin to see some similarities.

While it is a series with fictitious personas, its subtle nod towards the uncertainties and downcast moments in life by series creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg is as real as it gets.

In an interview with The Verge, he states that there are numerous TV shows which haven’t been candid about the matter of sadness; that it is an emotion which can be quite overwhelming for some. It’s one that captures sadness in an honest, relatable light.

Casting the humour aside however, each character possesses a distinct persona, and the story of how their lives might be an allusion to ours is one that has yet to be told.
