“How do I get started if I don’t have an idea?”

by Yann Girard

Not having an idea can be a major barrier if you’d want to change your life, explore the world and start living life on your own terms.

But is it really?

To be completely honest with you… I don’t think so.

Look. These days a lot of people out there still believe that they need a grand idea and then they have to quit their safe jobs to start living life on their own terms. Many people believe that they have to become a full time entrepreneur to maybe one day live the life they really want to live.

And you know what? This is all complete BS. Most entrepreneurs (like 99%) never really get the freedom they imagine they would have. Most entrepreneurs will never be able to live life on their own terms.

As a matter of fact becoming a full time entrepreneur is probably the worst idea you could ever have if you wanted to live life on your own terms. If freedom is what you really want to have.

Here’s the thing…

When you’re a full time entrepreneur, you know the type of entrepreneur everybody is talking about these days, then you’d have to work with other people’s money.

And these people don’t want you to lose their money. Ever. These people who are giving you money fought hard, really, really hard to make that money. So they’ll do everything they possibly can so you don’t lose their money.

It’s their money. And not some imaginary money that comes from some imaginary company. It’s their real money. Or it’s their friend’s money who work at that big bank and if they lose it they will never ever get money from their friends ever again.

And that’s a big, big difference. And in case you do lose their money (or don’t make them 10x the money), you’ll probably never ever get any money from anyone ever again.

On the other hand, if you’re working for a corporation you’ll automatically get money transferred to your bank account at the end of each month. Who’s money is it? I don’t know. No one really knows. It’s just there.

And the people who fought really, really hard, the people who sacrificed their lives to build these companies are long gone already. The people who made the initial amount of money that everybody else is now just managing are probably already dead.

So no one really cares where that money goes to. Until they do. But you’d probably have a few more years. Maybe one or two until the whole thing blows up. Maybe 5. I don’t know.

To put it short, money from your day job is a lot more stress free than taking and working with someone else’s money. Taking money from an investor is always linked to a hell lot of stress. Especially if things are not working out as expected. And they never will.

Taking money from an investor is a whole different thing. It’s many things. But what it’s never ever going to be is freedom. In most cases it’s actually the exact opposite of freedom. In many cases it’s more like prison.

Becoming a full time entrepreneur, you know the type of entrepreneur who wants to raise money and all of this stuff is probably a really, really bad idea if all you want is to live your life on your own terms. If all you want is freedom.

Just like quitting your job right now (if you still have one) is probably a really, really bad idea.

If you still have a job and some people who don’t know you and couldn’t care less about where all that money goes to transfer money to your bank account every single month without putting a lot of pressure on you, heck then you should take that money, say thank you and make sure they keep transferring you that money for as long as possible.

Look. I totally agree with what everybody out there is saying. You’ll lose your job sooner or later. Rather sooner than later. You’ll probably be replaced by an algorithm.

WhatsApp was serving more than 400 million customers worldwide with less than 50 employees when Facebook bought them. And the rest were algorithms. At the same time you have big telco companies that have more than a hundred thousand employees. Like Deutsche Telekom for example. The folks who own T-Mobile.

And if you’re not getting replaced by an algorithm, you’re most likely going to lose your middle management job (or whatever job you have) to someone who works in the country where they actually sell your company’s products. Because this person will work for a third of your salary.

China is the future. Just like India or Africa. These are the markets where most of the products will be sold in the future. Actually, most of the products are already being sold there. BMW’s sales are higher in China than in Germany. Or the US. With a tendency of more and more sales coming from that region.

So why the heck would someone (with business sense) still employ you if most of the products are sold in a country you’ve probably never even been to, don’t speak the language and have no freaking clue about what’s really going on there?

Look. I’m not saying any of this to scare the hell out of you. I’m saying all of this because the world is changing. Right now. And many people haven’t realized it yet. Or don’t want to realize it.

And in this world you can basically do two things. You can either ignore it until it’s too late. Or you can quit your job and become a full time entrepreneur.

But there’s another alternative. A third alternative, which not a lot of people talk about yet. You can keep your job and continue getting those bank transfers from your day job for as long as possible and use the time you still have to create multiple streams of income on the side.

It’s your choice. It depends on what you really want in life.

Do you want to live a life on your own terms with as little risk as possible? Do you want to be able to hit the gym at 3pm for no particular reason a all? Or do you want to take a walk at the beach while everybody else is still at the office?

Well, then the first two choices might probably not be for you.

Your job might disappear soon. So it’s quite risky to bet on that one. You’d also not be able to live life on your own terms. Ever. When you have a job you’d basically have 2–3 weeks a year where you can live life on your own terms. But that’s already about it.

What about quitting your job and becoming a full time entrepreneur? Well, if you look at the statistics, it’s very, very likely that it’s not going to work out. Something like 85% of companies fail after 5 years. Or more. I don’t know. And the rest, those 15% are barely able to make payroll.

I hate to admit it. Because I’ve done all of these things myself. And failed at all of them. I quit my job and started a company a few years ago. I thought it would enable me to live the life I wanted to live. A life of freedom. But it didn’t. And instead it felt like I was in prison. For two years. Until I shut that company down.

The only thing, the only safest thing is to keep your job for as long as you can. And while you still have that job you should try to build up as many streams of income as possible.

Start as many small side businesses as possible. To reduce and spread your risk across multiple streams of income. So in case one stream of income disappears, you’d still have three more going for you.

And all of this takes time. It takes time to build up multiple streams of income online. Especially if you’ve never ever done anything online on your own. It took me three years until I finally started to understand. Until I was able to understand “the system”.

I now see opportunities where other people don’t see anything. As a matter of fact, I have started two completely new streams of income this month. And I was able to generate close to $400 on the side in less than 4 weeks. While still doing a lot of other stuff.

And I’ve shared everything I did to build up and launch these totally new side income streams with my subscribers over at Yann’s Secret Side Hustle & Behind The Scenes Projects.

It’s a subscription where I share everything I did to get a specific side income idea off the ground. Once a week. I share everything in it. How I came up with the idea. What I did. What worked. What didn’t. How much money I made. And everything else.

You’ll basically be looking over my shoulder and see everything I do. You’ll see everything with your own eyes. So you can easily replicate all of these things. You’ll basically be skipping the three years I was struggling and trying to understand “the system” and start right at the point where I am right now.

And the best thing about it? You don’t need any coding skills. You also don’t need to hire someone to do the coding for you. No coding needed, at all. It’s all based on available tools and techniques.

So if you want to start creating multiple streams of income online, you can join the students who love Yann’s Secret Side Hustle & Behind The Scenes Projects here.

P.S. There are only 20 spots available this month. And there are just a few spots left while I write this. So I recommend that you’d get it before all slots are gone…
