Permission to think

For decades we’ve been trained by schools, universities and our bosses to always pretend to be busy. To never stand still. To always do stuff. To never question anything.

We were basically trained to stop thinking.

Because standing still and thinking means that you’re going to waste time. That you’re going to be inefficient. Not productive.

And everybody thinks that the gal or the guy who thinks is just a dreamer. Someone who will never make it. Someone who’s lost in their dreams. Forever.

But as a matter of fact it’s the dreamers and the thinkers who always took and always will take humanity to the next level.

It’s not the over efficient and hyper optimized folks who never think, who just do stuff and never question anything who will change the world.

Those are the ones who will be replaced by algorithms. Or by someone else who can do the same thing for a fraction of the cost.

Thinkers and dreamers will never become obsolete. They will never be replaced by algorithms. It’s hard to replace the dreamers with algorithms. Because dreaming doesn’t follow any logic.

So do yourself a favor and don’t rush it. Don’t rush through life. Don’t rush from one thing to the next. Don’t rush through books. Don’t rush from one page to the next.

First and foremost you need to give yourself the permission to think again. Some time to think. Some space to breathe.

I know it’s tough. It’s tough to stand still and think for a moment. To do nothing at all, while you could do thousands of other things at the same time.

Still. You need to take your time to think. To reflect. To do nothing at all. To ask questions. And most importantly you need to take more time to dream. Again.
