Why you should stop reading blogs in 2016

Look. Here’s the thing. We all read hundreds of blog posts every year. Some of us maybe even every month. And let’s be honest for a second…

On how many of those things did you ever take action? How many things did you implement successfully that made your life any better?

Seriously, I want to know!

Think about it for a moment. And then let me know.

How many things did you implement last year and how many of those things did really work out for you? Did you take action at all? Is your life any better now than it was before?

Sure, some things and authors really help. But most of the stuff out there is just list post mumbo jumbo with almost none to zero actionable advice. And if it’s actionable it usually doesn’t really help anyone, except the author maybe.

Most of the advice you read on blogs or here on Medium is super conflicting anyway. Someone might say this and the other person might say that.

You could easily read a post on the exact same topic with two different people sharing two completely conflicting point of views.

So what’s the result?

People are a lot more confused than ever before. Some people more, some people less. But from the emails and messages I get, I can tell that it confuses a hell lot of people.

For many people all of this stuff is like a never ending spiral that takes away the focus from what’s really important. It takes the focus from doing. From taking action. From figuring out what works for you and what doesn’t.

We are turning into a generation of reading articles and knowing all “in theory” but we don’t know a thing about the real world out there.

Look. We’re all different. And there’s no one size fits all solution to life. To careers. To business. To entrepreneurship. To writing. To anything.

You need to find your own solution to your own problems. And you can only find your solution by going out there, experiencing things, testing, failing, tweaking and then doing it all over again. Until it finally works out. Until it all starts to make sense.

So do yourself a favor and stop reading blogs this year. Stop reading my blog. And instead try to focus on what’s really important. Focus on doing. On getting your work out there. And on getting your shit done.

Make 2016 the year of action. Make 2016 the year where you finally take action and implement all of the things you’ve read and learned over the past few weeks, months or maybe even years.

Make 2016 your year. Make it count..
