Biden’s Removal From the Race Reinvigorates the Democratic Party

Since Kamala Harris has assumed the top of the ticket, the Democratic party has been overtaken by a surge of vitality and enthusiasm

Before Biden was even declared the Democratic nominee for the 2020 race, the Republicans had begun crafting the “Sleepy Joe Biden” argument. Even after winning his election, there was little Biden could do to set aside the moniker. But with Biden out of the 2024 race, half of a decade’s worth of arguments that centered around his age and ailing health have been turned squarely on President Trump, now the oldest presidential hopeful in United States history.

There are many who would argue that Biden’s refusal to drop out of the race was a mere product of pride — the stubbornness of an old man unwilling to admit the ravages of age. But there’s a strong argument to be made now that the delay tactic was his most diplomatic move. Had he dropped out of the race immediately after the debate and when the calls for his removal first began, then he would have given the Republican party time to pivot before the Republican National Convention.

Firmly locked into a Trump / Vance ticket, there’s little the Republican party can do to appeal to the women they lost with Roe V. Wade’s…
