Complicated Grief

Grief is a universal human experience. It is the natural response to loss, and it can manifest in a variety of ways. While most people eventually heal from their grief, some may experience what is known as ‘complicated grief’.

Complicated grief is a type of grief that is more intense and long-lasting than typical grief. It is characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, anger, guilt, and loneliness.

People with complicated grief may also have difficulty accepting the death of their loved one and may experience flashbacks, nightmares, and other intrusive thoughts and images.

In this article, we will explore the story of a recent client of mine, a woman who experienced complicated grief following the death of her aunt. She had struggled with many of the above feelings for nearly two years before she found her way to me via another previous client.

What ended up helping my client was her aunt’s love for rally car racing and journaling. The rally car racing element might sound bizarre but read on to find out why.
